Jos Buttler lauds ?world class? Morgan ? Cricket News Update

England? wicketkeeper batsman Jos Buttler, on Saturday lavished rich praise on Eoin Morgan, describing him as ?world class?, after the stand in skipper cracked a six off the last ball to help England register one of the most memorable wins and square the two-match T20 series against India 1-1.

Chasing a competitive target of 178 to win in the second and final T20 International at the Wankhede Stadium here in Mumbai on Saturday, the tourists needed three runs on the last ball of the match with stand in skipper Eoin Morgan facing Ashok Dinda. Morgan smashed the ball straight over the bowler?s head for a six to end unbeaten on 49 and complete his team?s highest successful run chase in the shortest format of the game, with six wickets to spare.

"We're really pleased to get that victory. It was a world-class finish from a world-class finisher in Eoin Morgan," said Buttler, who also played his part in the enthralling victory, looting Parvinder Awana for two crucial boundaries during the penultimate over.

"He was very confident and that rubbed off on me. It's a great Christmas present. It was a world-class performance from everyone and everyone's delighted to get a win," added the wicketkeeper batsman.

Buttler and skipper Morgan added 32 runs from 13 balls for the fifth-wicket stand to make sure the Three Lions got over the line after an impressive start ? an opening stand of 80 runs between Michael Lumb (50) Alex Hales (42).

Skipper Morgan, who walked away with the Man of the Match award for his match-winning 49 not out, was full of praise for the Wankhede wicket.

"It was a hell of a game of cricket," said Morgan at the post-match presentation ceremony. "It was a great pitch to be prepared for a Twenty20 game and both sides were in the game throughout the whole 40 overs, which was great to see," he added further.

The defeat also denied MS Dhoni and his Men in Blue a chance to become the world?s No. 1 ranked T20 side, as India needed to win all the four matches against England and Pakistan to replace Sri Lanka at the top.
